Listening and Success for your Body, Mind and Spirit. April 2013

Listening and Success for your Body, Mind and Spirit. April 2013

Dear Friends:
After a successful female operation a couple of weeks ago, I have had the pleasure and surprising gift of healing by not doing much just "listening " to what my body needs to heal successfully.

I "listen" each day as I recover more; but at the same time not overdoing any thing even though I feel stronger. I feel like I should push it, but I listen and my body tells me to relax, not feel guilty, not to overdo.

Like so many of us American women and now men we jump up, out of bed and into the frying pan (work, work home and office) ASAP 24/7.

An acupuncture friend of mind said that Chinese women after giving birth, literally rest on the bed for 3 months being fed and nourished by family because for 9 months all nourishment was going to the fetus and now milk for the new born. The mother was depleted on so many levels, and they helped her recover.

I think I was gardening the 3rd day after birth, caring for a one year old by myself when I had my 2nd baby. No wonder why my uterus did not properly repair, and now I had to have it removed 30 years later.

So as an older adult and as "I wish I had known this in my 30's" I hope and pray you will listen to your body. Do nothing for once and not feel guilty about it. Train now your kids by your example. Please ask for help; don't be a fatigued in-ill- health- for -the -rest -of -your -days martyr!!!!

If I didn't work at our wellness spa, I don't think I would or could work any more, but coming into a healing environment with soft music, great therapists who want to relax, nuture each other is my reward, gift to myself.

I hope we all can pause, listen to our body and then do the rights things to get our body and spirit back in harmony and peace.

The following writing is from a great American essayist and transcendentalist of the 1800's:

WHAT IS SUCCESS

To laugh often and much.

To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded.

By, Ralph Waldo Emerson

Did you notice success has nothing to do with your social or professional status, wealth, possessions, and occupation. We all have it.....inside of us!

My blessings to you all,
