It's the" Little Things" That Matter in Life 3/3/13
A client was taking off her very expensive hiking boots while saying "I just bought new shoe laces, and it's the little things that matter when I hike along these steep Colorado mountain trails...good strong shoe laces!"
"Oh yes,the little things" we uttered in unison.
Oh those little things...positive or negative... really shape and affect us at any age.
I remember my husband of 15 years who used to say after we had babies, "I need you to spend 20 minutes of your time with me before or after dinner so we can relax and catch up. Just the two of us, no kids."
We didn't have to discuss any thing important but we just listened to each other for many years of our happy life together.
About a year after our divorce, sadly I recalled that we had stopped these little 20 minutes alone times. I wonder......?
My saint said "remember your Creator 31 seconds daily; the time it takes you to make your bed. " Every time I make my bed, 31 seconds, I lovingly remember Him. Hopefully more during the day!
Five minutes each morning, I massage my 2 little doggies while hugging and kissing them as they wag their tails while squealing with delight.
My 16 year old dog, "young" Reno, is a Jack Russell Terrier and recently seems to be dying... a little dementia, kinda spacey, not knowing me or her boyfriend, Snoopy.
I've been spending more time hugging her, cooking and feeding her favorite foods like scrambled eggs and toast. Just yesterday she wagged her tail in recognition of me when I came home. And I think she" knew" me again, and wanted to play again.
Oh those little things...a smile at a stranger; opening the door for someone; a
kind thought; being respectful to others; really listening without judgement etc.
Sending you now 31 seconds of love and blessings,
